Overview
One of the primary selling points of Wood Plastic Composite (WPC) wall panels is their low-maintenance nature. Unlike natural wood, which requires regular oiling, staining, or sealing, WPC panels are designed to be install and forget. However, proper cleaning practices are still necessary to keep them looking pristine in commercial and residential settings.
Routine Cleaning
For day-to-day maintenance, WPC panels require minimal effort.
- Dusting: Use a soft microfiber cloth, feather duster, or vacuum cleaner with a soft brush attachment. For fluted panels, a vacuum brush is highly effective at pulling dust out of the grooves.
- Wiping: For general smudges or fingerprints, simply wipe the panels with a clean, damp cloth. WPC is 100% waterproof, so a damp cloth will not cause swelling or water damage.
Deep Cleaning and Stain Removal
For high-traffic areas or areas prone to splashes, occasional deep cleaning may be required. Mix a few drops of mild dish soap or neutral pH cleaner with warm water. Use a soft sponge to gently scrub the affected area, then wipe again with a clean damp cloth to remove soap residue, and dry with a microfiber towel to prevent water spots.
What to Avoid
To protect the decorative PVC film layer on the surface of WPC panels, strictly avoid the following.
- Abrasive Cleaners: Never use scouring powders, steel wool, or abrasive scrubbing pads. These will permanently scratch the decorative surface.
- Harsh Chemicals: Avoid strong solvents, bleach, ammonia, or acetone-based cleaners. These can degrade the PVC film, causing discoloration or peeling.
- Steam Cleaners: The extreme heat from commercial steam cleaners can potentially damage the adhesive bond between the core and the decorative film.
